Speech Therapy
... with a difference
... with a difference
Hi, I’m Sarah —Speech Pathologist, Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, Teacher, and owner of Lexico Speech Pathology in Wodonga.
Through my own experience accessing speech therapy services for my son, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that communication challenges can have on a person’s confidence and self-esteem. Today, I feel incredibly fortunate to spend my days helping others build the skills they need to communicate confidently and effectively, not only with their loved ones but within the wider community.
With a background in teaching, I founded Lexico with a vision for a more innovative approach to speech therapy. I’m passionate about using evidence-based teaching strategies, grounded in the science of how we learn and informed by the latest research. I view therapy sessions as high-impact teaching opportunities, where explicit instruction removes the guesswork and empowers clients to practise their skills with confidence.
If you’re looking for support that is evidence-based, impactful, and focused on empowering both clients and their families, I’d love to hear from you.

Modelling
We show you first
Watch it before you try it
Seeing a skill demonstrated clearly — step by step — gives your brain a strong template to work from.
Guided practice
We practise together
Support to build the skill
You try the skill with your therapist alongside you — ready to prompt, support, and give feedback in the moment.
Checking for understanding
We check in as we go
No-one moves on until it's clear
Regular check-ins throughout the session mean we catch any confusion early and adjust before habits form.
Spaced practice
Regular practice matters
Little and often
Your brain consolidates skills between appointments. Consistent attendance makes a bigger difference than you might think.
Retrieval practice
Attempts beat passive listening
Try before you're shown
Having a go — even imperfectly — makes your brain work harder and remember more than just hearing the right answer.
Interleaving
Mixing things up is intentional
Variety helps it stick
Practising different targets in one session helps your brain use skills in lots of situations, not just one.
Timely feedback
Quick corrections build habits
Feedback in the moment
Knowing right away what's working — and what to tweak — helps the brain lock in accurate patterns faster.
Transfer
From clinic to everyday life
Real life is the goal
Families play a vital role in transfering skills into everyday life. Short, frequent 'quick-hit' practice builds habits that stick beyond the therapy setting.
At Lexico, we believe the real magic of therapy happens at home. The minutes between sessions — at the dinner table, in the car, during bath time — are where lasting progress is made.
Research shows that short, consistent practice across the week is far more powerful than any single session, because the brain learns through repetition over time.
You do not need extra time or special resources. You just need the strategies your speech pathologist has given you, and the everyday moments you are already living.
At Lexico, we see families as an essential part of the therapy process — and the difference you make at home is everything.
